From one dad ’s idea to a global Rugbytots family

Rugbytots began in 2006 in the UK with one simple idea: to give young children a fun and positive introduction to rugby.

Rugby-loving dad Max Webb wanted his three boys – all under 3 years old at the time – to experience the sport he loved. But when he looked for rugby classes designed for toddlers and young children, there simply weren ’t any.

He knew rugby could offer children so much more than sporting skills: confidence, coordination, teamwork and, most importantly, lots of fun.

So he decided to create something himself.

Rugbytots dà il calcio d'inizio!

Having taken his boys to every class available, Max felt something was missing. He wanted to create sessions so engaging and full of energy that parents would enjoy watching just as much as the children enjoyed taking part.

He set out to create a positive environment where young children could grow in confidence through high-tempo, varied and imaginative activities. That ethos became the foundation of Rugbytots and remains at the heart of our classes today.

The focus was never on creating the next generation of professional players. It was about helping children enjoy being active, develop important skills and feel proud of what they can do.

Parents loved it – and Rugbytots quickly began to grow.

From local classes to a worldwide community

What started with a handful of children has grown into a global Rugbytots family. Today, Rugbytots runs classes around the world, with thousands of coaches delivering high-quality, engaging sessions that help young children learn, develop and have fun every week.

We run Rugbytots classes for three age groups

Toddlers
Age 2–3½ years

Rugbytots’ classes for toddlers are a fun way to spend time with your child. Watch them grow in confidence, enjoy being part of a group, and learn new skills through play.

Young children
Age 3½–5 years

Rugbytots’ activity classes for this age group encourage independence, imaginative play and teamwork. At the same time the sessions continue to build self-esteem in a fun, structured environment.

School children
Age 5–7 years

Our classes for older Rugbytots introduce more of the basics of the game. They also provide the perfect foundation for each child’s next steps by focusing on the skills required for Tag Rugby and team play.
